Temporary Promotion - Park Manager (Superintendent)
You will serve as the Superintendent at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. This is a not-to-exceed one (1) year temporary promotion assignment. This temporary promotion may be extended without further competition; however, it may not exceed a total of five (5) years. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 09/15/2026 whichever comes first. The major duties of the Park Manager position include, but are not limited to, the following: Determines strategic direction, goals, and objectives for Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and Waco Mammoth National Monument. Responsible for all aspects of management of the park through subordinate staff including planning and programming, public relations, administration, resource management, safety, interpretation, visitor services, and facilities maintenance. Fosters and maintains external relationships and partnerships, such as with community organizations, Native American tribes, elected officials, stakeholders and partners. Builds coalitions internally and with other federal agencies, state and local governments, and non-profit and private sector organizations to achieve common goals. Ensures compliance with all federal laws and National Park Service (NPS) policies, ensuring that the park's financial and other resources are used strategically and effectively to meet NPS objectives.

Time-in-grade does not apply to new excepted service appointments and must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment. You are required to wear a uniform and comply with uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 5 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority. A financial disclosure report will be required within 30 days of appointment. Applicants must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. *Additional Requirements located under qualifications*
