Supervisory Facilities Operations Specialist
This position is located in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Plains Area (PA), National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) location in Manhattan, KS. In this position, you will supervise and manage various assigned functions, ensuring the operation and maintenance of the following support services. Plumbing/Piping; Grounds and Vehicles; Work Shops Group; and Custodial Services. The work includes skilled labor and service contracts for site-wide Repair and Maintenance (R&M) program.
Maintains standard operation and maintenance procedures for plumbing/piping, grounds/vehicles, and general maintenance activities including welding, carpentry, flooring, painting, and containment surface coatings for the facilities.
Identifies and maintains services to support the diverse needs of all organizational unitand tenants including office and mechanical spaces, BSL-2, BSL-3, ACL-2, ACL-3,BSL-3AG, and BSL-4 laboratories.
Prepares cost analyses to findways to economize.
Coordinates directly with custodial contracting staff to ensure that projects satisfy needsof the Location.
Maintains operations, maintenance, and repair facility project records to provide project information and cost estimates for the development of the 3-year ARS Capital Project and Repair Plan (CPRP).
Serves as first and second level supervisor for a large staff.
